The Bisley Flower Show was great this year, as usual. Quite apart from the displays and the events I always enjoy the bric-a-brac, book, and produce stalls.
However, a couple of things I find irritating: The produce is sold without any knowledge of origin despite being grown and donated locally; I feel that in these days of concern about what we eat, it would be nice to know the origin of the fruit and veg; is it organic or have they been sprayed with dreadful chemicals? The prices this year would seem to indicate organic origin, as they were up there with the Stroud farmers market finest organics. (defamatory remarks removed by webmaster) Secondly, a request to anyone donating goods for sale on the bric-a-brac and children's toy stalls: Please do not give the Show faulty or broken electrical goods without labelling them as such, it does no-one any favours. This will be the third year I have bought a nice little electrical or electronic item for a pound or two, only to find when I get it home that it is as dead as the proverbial parrot.
I know, a pound or two isn't much when its a "good cause" but I would gladly have paid more for something that worked....and children would be heartbroken to spend their pocket money on something that didn't work.
