My great great grandfather, John Bishop was born on 7th July 1803 at Barnthorne Farm, Bisley. His parents were William & Mary (nee Vaill) Bishop. He had siblings, Mary,b.6/3/1795, who married (1)Charles Chamberlin & (2) Mr. Grosvenor; Elizabeth b.15/3/1797; Joseph b.30/3/1799; William b.31/5/1801, m. Mary Hall; Jane b.17/2/1805, m. Joseph Forty; Uriah b.10/5/1808; George Vaill b.28/2/1810. I am seeking any information re the above or their descendants and also would be grateful to receive photographs of any Bishop headstones in Bisley cemetery. John Bishop went to sea at an early age and eventually captained the 80 ton brig "Dorset" and in 1838/9 sailed to South Australia and became one of the first settlers of Port Lincoln. Should anyone be interested I have a wealth of information regarding the voyage and his descendants.
