Matthew Tyler was a resident of Bussage,a tything of Bisley, in the 1831 census when his occupation was given as weaver. No doubt the collapse of the woollen trade caused him to turn to labouring between then and 1837.In the survey of the houses in 1831, Tyler had a house and garden with a rateable value of 15 shillings, in Bussage which he rented from the Feoffees (trustees) of Bisley. There were no less than 15 Tylers recorded.
Apparently Gloucester Records Office Has copys of wills for the following Tylers:-
James 1794, John 1784, Matthew 1726 and Richard 1665. They are all related
