The research I have on the Mills Family aboard the Layton to Australia is that the only Samuel born 30.6.1833 died on the Tropic Line from measles on 5.11.1837. Emma Mills died in Sydney 1838 aged 8. Ephraim survived and travelled to New Zealand later with parents. Ammalo was born in Sydney not on board the ship and Rhoda seemed to have disappeared for a while but turned up again with her parents and Married a Dr Walter Lee 20.10.1846. I suppose this should be called the New Zealand connection.
